The BRAVE Framework

A research based structure to turn hard conversations into productive outcomes.

To be able to really crack the code on conversation, we needed a roadmap to follow, a simple, repeatable system that gets results. We created The BRAVE Framework to be that system, that we could send any challenging conversation into and it would yield positive, productive results. Rooted in the tenets of hostage negotiation, positive psychology and neuroscience, the framework at its core shows us how to create an atmosphere of psychological safety. It’s step-by-step process teaches us a new language of listening and arms us with the tools needed to break down barriers and empower those around us, simply by the way we listen.

The Framework

The BRAVE Framework was originally created to bring together groups with divergent beliefs to unearth the underlying humanity and likeness.

How do we apply the framework?

The BRAVE Framework can be used physically, as a tool to teach teams better communication skills and how to build trust. It can also be used on the two main factors that can preclude us from listening BRAVE-ly. Being able to apply the framework in multiple ways allows it to be the basis for truly doing the work of deepening in self awareness, leadership development and service.

The BRAVE Framework and BRAVE Conversations are our proprietary “technologies” used to improve the quality of conversations in your organization. They are the keys to: igniting the kinds of conversations that we need in our world, and also to guiding those conversations in an effective manner.

What does the framework teach us?

The BRAVE Framework explains and explores the ways in which we can use conversation to empower those around us (as well as ourselves).

  • How your brain impacts your ability to connect, and it’s secret motivation that can derail conversations if not remedied

  • Transforming your listening skills to foster stronger relationships, build psychological safety, diffuses stress and empowers others while not overburdening yourself.

  • Learn one of the main mistakes made in conversation, what it does to our brain and how to prevent it from derailing your conversations in the future

  • How to be B.R.A.V.E. with yourself first, so that you are equipped to better navigate hard conversations with others

  • How to see and hear beneath the words people say to identify the driving forces behind the conversation (even virtually)

  • Managing your stress response, as well as that of others when conveying difficult information
